"assertion failed" message when opening ImageReady

All of a sudden my ImageReady won't open and instead I get this "Could not fully start the application because an assertion has failed" message. I have tried reinstalling photoshop, but no luck. Can anyone help me with this?

Sorry to jump in here, but I have a somewhat similar problem. Whenever I try to Save for web... Right after I click the Save button in the Save for Web window, I will get a "Could not complete this operation because an assertion has failed". This is really annoying me. Anyone knows how to fix this? I have uninstalled/reinstalled at least 4 times, and it doesn't help. I have also tried the solutions in the Adobe support, but none of them worked.

Lightbulb

I found the answer.
Close all Adobe programs and run the regedit (Be careful, any wrong change may damage your windows System).
Just delete "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Save For Web 3.0"

See ya

i've had the same issue

both of these issues have been happening to me. i use ps 7.01, and image ready and save for web have "assertion failures"... only after i use spybot or a registry cleaner ???

if you delete the registry key for save for web or image ready (as explained above) then it works again... but what a pain.

if anyone has more input on this... it would be greatly appreciated. i use spybot regularly to check for unwanted garbage in my system.

I just used Cool Web Search Shredder to get rid of some spyware and the same thing happened. The registry hack didn't work for me, guess it's uninstall/reinstall time.

Arrow There's a much simpler solution...

...than editing the registry, deleting folder, etc.

The solution above deletes custom preferences for the "Save for Web" dialogue box, so that they revert to their defaults, and any conflicting settings are removed.

You can do the same thing more easily: Press and hold down CTRL+ALT while you select File-->Save for Web. A dialogue box will pop up asking "Are you sure you want to delete your 'Save for Web' preferences?". Click "Yes".

That's it. (A year and a half after the original post!)

The solution has been found in : http://forums.pcworld.co.nz/archive/index.php/t-40883.html

where it is said :Using "Regedit" find the following key and delete it

"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Save For Web 3.0"

And let see the magic!

For me at least it works
