Basic Photoshop Question

It's a Monday...

I just aquired Photoshop and I'm trying to follow some of these tutorials on good-tutorials.com to make some new boxes and stuff for my company's website www.blackviperenergy.com

I found this tutorial here http://www.good-tutorials.com/track/2419 and I'm having a hard time on the first part!! (it's a monday)

The first step says to use the color #EAEAEA as my background color. This appears to be an off white color. When I double-click the color picker box and type this color in I get a white color. Am I missing something?

Also, on a side question, are there any good websites or books that you recommend a new photoshop user to learn the complete basics?

Thx for the links

Hey,

Thank you for the links man. I've been trying some of the other tuturials I have found but I'm having the same problem with getting the colors right like those on the tutorials. What's up with that? #D5E1D5, #C8D5C8, and #979D97 are all supposed to be shades of green... instead they all come up as gray. UG!

I've been looking through the online help but haven't seen anything useful yet. Any idea?

@oronis -- not sure, but if all the colors are supposed to be in a
shade of green and coming up as grey..

did you double check to see that you're not in Gray-scale Mode?

(IN MENU AT TOP)
Image -> Mode -> Grayscale

If your in Grey Scale goto RGB im pretty sure thats what its called. Look through deviantArt aswell i find tutorials,brushes, and resourses there. Aswell on tutorial sites start with something basic and work your way up thats all i can say. It got me to get way better using graphics.
