Batch BMP -> JPEG
I have a project at work that requires me to convert about 10 thousand BMP files to JPEG. Is there a way to automate this coversion in Photoshop, and if there isn't, are there other tools that can do this?
Thanks -glog- |

I am pretty sure this will work, it is worth a try. Use the File/Automate/Web Photo Gallery. Choose the folder with all the bitmaps, then choose the destination of where the files will go, probably easiest to use you desktop for this. Under the options dropdown go to large images and make sure the option for resize is unchecked. Then click OK. It will put and index.htm file on your desktop, a pages folder, a thumbnail folder, and an images folder. In this images folder will be all of your images in jpeg format. You can throw out the other folders and files you don't need them. Hope this works for you.

Though I don't have photoshop to try on this desktop, it sounds promising, and I'll give it a shot when I'm in front of a computer that has it.
I think it should work though, so thanks SO much for the help. -glog- |

A Better way would be to create a batch in photostop, its very easy. You just have to create a new action and record the save step. |

There is a little free DOS tool called nConvert (search in google for it) that you can use to carry out batch processing of images, including file type conversion, re-sizing, lossless jpeg rotations and a few other bits and bobs.
Very usefull for generating thumbnails for a whole directory of files. would solve your problem nicely. |
