BLENDING IMAGES, mine look terrible

How can I blend several of my images together to produce one that looks as good as the one I saw on www.swifttravelug.com (the money, birds, etc). My images all have different backround colors and when I blend them, one can obviously tell that they were added together.

It looks horrible. Please somebody help me with the how to do it. Thanks

The quickest way to blend like this is by making a selection with the lasso tool, then go to the select menu and choose "feather". Enter an amount, lets say 25 pixels and choose ok.
Then choose "Add Layer Mask" from the Layers menu.

The good thing with this is if you want to add more feathering to the layer mask, you just step backwards a couple of times and enter a higher amount in you feathering, then add the layer mask again. It's also non-destructive to your image meaning you can remove the layer mask if you need to and the rest of the image is still there.

Layer mask are good to avoid the edges. But if you want ur pics to look just 1 pic.you should choose pics with same direction of lighting. As you can see the animals are lighter on the left.
Second correct each pic's highlight ,shadows so that they look harmonius.
