how are you trying to blend them?? there are soooo many different ways to do it, but one of the easiest i've found is: 1) put all images into one "master" image where each is on it's own layer. 2) DO NOT MODIFY THE ACTUAL IMAGE - instead use layer masks (if you use the brush tool, black adds to the mask and white takes away from it). i can put a REAL quick thing together showing what i mean if you want. |

I don't know about McFly, but I would like that. I've just recently started trying layer masks and haven't got the hang of it yet. Ez |

here it is ... mind you i put it together in about 15 minutes, so please excuse the somewhat lower quality of work.
http://blog.recreationalloser.com/archives/1-REAL-quick-blending-imageslayer-mask-tutorial.html *EDIT* - one thing to add ... this is by no means the only way or even the best way. this is the way i use and the way i've found to be the quickest. this should give you the tools with which you can build on. and by all means, please leave some feedback (again, the overall quality is not that great, but it accomplished the mission) |

Gthomas - Thankyou! That was great! I learned ALOT from that! So much simpler than the books I have and taught me what I wasn't able to pick up just thru trial & error experimenting. If you have any more tutes like this, please tell where I can find them. I'm enclosing the image I did as I worked thru your tute. (The butterfly photo is my own. I liked it because the position of the two bflys makes it look like it is one fly with 3 wings. No hocus-pocus going on there.

Hmm. Tried to upload it as a PSD so you could see the two layers, but it was over the size limit. Uploading it again as a JPG.
Which begs a question - how do I reduce the file size of a PSD file without having to lose the layers by converting to JPG? Ez |

Blurring has also time and time again proven to be an incredible assistant to combining images.
Also, great tutorial you concocted there Gthomas. |

i'm using PS7 as well. one thing that gets a lot of people is they try to use the "Place" command from the File menu ... that won't work like you want it to. you have to open all of the images you want to combine and then drag them all into a "master" image -- whether it's one of the files already open as i did, or into a new blank image.

I think you should try archiving (zip, rar, ace) ... anything will do. |
