Smile Can't seem to get a Transparent EPS file!

Hi there,

I'm kinda stuck over this. I type the W (the W is my logo) in Photoshop on a transparent background, give it a orange color and save it as and EPS file (with vector data included).

And the W (EPS) turns up on a white background. I can't seem to overcome this one way or another. All the prof one's are transparent, or not? Any help is really appreciated...

Bye
Murtaza

If you want to use the logo online, then save as a gif.

If you want to use it in a print job there are two ways you can do it easily.
1. Do it in Illustrator or Freehand (Vector drawing programs) and save as eps. This will result in a transparent file. No fuss, No Muss.

2. If you don't have access to either of the above:
  1. Type in your 'W'
  2. Command/control click on the 'w' layer. This will bring up a selection around your W.
  3. Open the Paths palette. Go to the options Menu (Little Triangle - top right) Select 'Make Work Path...'. Leave the tolerance set to the default of 0.5. If it is something else change it to 0.5
  4. Go back to the Paths Options Menu and select 'Save Path' and give it a name if you wish.
  5. Go Back to the Paths Options Menu and select 'Clipping Path...'. Select the path you saved from the pull down menu.
  6. Save as Photoshop EPS and you will have a transparent Photoshop EPS file that can be used for print - provided that the colour mode is either CMYK or Greyscale. It will not print on a Commercial Printing Press if it is in RGB Colour mode

There you go.

Cheers
