Can't use Effects in Illustrator CS =\
Hi All,
I'm here working in Illustrator and for some reason I can't use any artistic, or other, effects on the images I'm creating. I can alter the stroke just fine, but not the fill. Here's what I'm doing: 1) I open a new document and choose the pen tool. 2) I don't use a fill, only the stroke. 3) I use the selection tool and select the outline I just made. 4) I then fill it with a color and click on the effect option on the top menu. When I move down to artistic, brush strokes, distort, etc... they are all greyed out. I used them fine with another picture. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Thanks for the help everyone. EDIT: Sorry for the reply below. It seems the artistic effects can only be used when I create an RBG color mode documented. |

Okay, I did some more experimenting... it seems if I have an image on the first layer (jpg), then I start drawing on the 2nd layer, then I can use the effects. There must be an image on the first layer, though. I can't just leave layer 1 empty and starting drawing on layer 2. That doesn't work. It doesn't even matter if I hide layer 1 with the image on it. It still works that way.
Is this some sort of bug? =\ |
