Change colour on white text

Hi,
I'm on the verge on throwing my laptop out of the window,
this is so frustrating.
I have a black-and-white jpg-image. It's a white text on a black background and I want to change the text to another colour and I simply can't figure out how to do it. The image has some grey-scale tones in the text and I want to be able to make it look good.

Can someone please give me any advice how to make it work?

There are many ways to do it (i hope the image is large enough)
You can use the Color Picker to chose the color and then the Paint Bucket Tool to "put" the new color on each letter. Let me know if I helped. If not send me the picture and I'll modify it for you
