    If you really want 'gold' and 'silver' looking colours, you'll have to start utilizing gradients to create the appearance of reflection.

    pixel2life has tons of PS tutorials on this sort of thing.

    Can you simply use a different photograph of something gold or silver and clone it? That's what I do sometimes.

    Then if you don't want it to look like a photo or blend it more into your pic, or make it fit the shadows of your pic precisely, just change the opacity of your brush (or whatever you're using) and touch it up accordingly.
