Color to dark when loading or creating images

I am new to Photoshop, so I don't know if this is normal or not, but everytime I create or load an image it is always darker than it is actually supposed to be. When I go to save a created image, it will always be lighter. What I want to know is how to make the image on the screen the same color as when I save it to my computer.

Example: I was following a tutorial to create a banner and when I finished (without saving) it turned out like this. Now, the image from the tutorial is actually suppose to look like this when finished. Then, after I saved the image it looked like how it was suppose to look.

Talking

I think all my settings are left at default. I just changed the width and height to fit my image. Settings. I save in jpeg format. I just downloaded the trial version of CS2 a few days ago, so I don't know if this makes any difference.

EDIT: Woohoo!!! I just got it to work!!! I had to update my monitor's driver. Now, it appears to work, but it gives me errors everytime I start up Photoshop. Oh well, at least it works!!!

it has nothing to do with reinstalling CS, what is wrong with your image, actually nothing, what really happening is that, actually go to display properties, and go to settings, go to advanced, then go to color managment tab, see if any color profile is loaded, i usually set my monitor to plug and play so there are no color profiles loaded, what hapens is that u photosho had different color profile selected and it saves file differently, basicaly two different color profiles are applied to an image. what i do when i connect my monitor is that i dont install any drivers, make sure it is just plug and play, if not usually color profile is applied and then it screws how everything renders because photoshop has different color profile well u can either go to edit - > Color settings and in RGB drop down, choose you monitor color profile, if that doesnt work, then make sure to roll back your monitor driver and delete the windows monitor color profile, so there is only one color profile applied, simply put, and again go back to photoshop and select monitor color profile, that should fix things. if u dont understand what i am talking about ask specific question about things u didnt understand in this post i will explain.
