Converting jpeg to vector
Someone recently asked me to print out a huge color print of a picture that is 100px wide in jpeg format. I know enough to know that if I enlarge the jpeg, the quality will be poor at best. What is the best way to enlarge a jpeg. Conversion to vector based??

well, unfourtunately it's not as simple as just converting it to a vector.
even with some of the resampling technologies, acheiving a huge print from a small file is a bit on the impossible side. if there is any possible way to get the original artwork/picture, do so. unless you're an extremely talented artist, converting to vector without it looking like a cartoon is out of the question. good luck!

Try looking for an old program by Adobe called Streamline. That should do the trick. You can also up the res of the image to 300, gaussian blur and then Unsharp Mask.

Corel Trace is like Streamline.
If the image is too small (few pixeles) both cannot help very much |
