Copy and paste.
I'm a newbie here, and with Photoshop, so can anyone advise me on how I can simply copy and paste an area of an image back onto the same image?
On my previous graphics software it was simply a case of highlighting the required area, click 'copy' then click 'paste' and bingo! To copy and paste on Photoshop seems much more involved including a number of complicated steps. Is there a simple way of achieving this? Any help appreciated. Thanks! ![]() Last edited by Richard67 : March 28th, 2004 at 02:07 PM. |

There are many ways to make a selection. Use any of the selection tools or the color range from the menu (select/color range). Then just copy and paste. Photoshop will create a new layer for you automatically or you can create a new document (photoshop will make the new document already set to the size of the item in your clipboard).
There are actually many ways you can isolate part of an image (you could even duplicate the layer and then just erase what you do not want). Nineve |

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I've tried what you suggested and it worked no problem. When I carried out this same procedure on my old graphics software the copied segment would appear in the top left hand corner of the image outlined and ready to be moved. Just realized that when the copied segment appears on the image in Photoshop it is not outlined/selected and appears 'invisible' so to speak. Anyway, problem solved! ![]() |
