I have been trying to color correct approx 2000 pictures for a website. This involves taking hi-res eps' and dropping them into a jpg template, transforming the many different sizes to fit the template, adjusting curves, and saving. I can't automate this because of the different eps sizes.
I found yesterday that PS CS is adding about 20k to my filesizes. This is unacceptable considering that they are only 7 to 10k regularly, and it ups the download time by several seconds. The save preview (where it says how many seconds it takes to load at 56k) is incorrect because it neglects to add whatever PS is sticking in there.
I'm able to correct the size problem by using the "save for web" function, but I really don't have time to 1. redo all of the several hundred I've already done and 2. add more steps to an already long procedure considering the number of photos. When using PS 6.0, this was not a problem, even though it had the save for web function...the filesizes were still reasonable.
I plan to do a batch file that will resave the jpegs in 'web form,' but this is not good for long term as it requires me to resave a jpg, thus putting it through lossy compression twice. Plus i
Is there any way to change the preferences (or something else) so it doesn't keep adding the extra, apparently useless information ever? It is unnecessary as far as I can tell in any of our applications of PS, so it'd be nice to just get rid of it, period. If not, is there a better (quicker, less lossy) way to reduce filesize for either the finished or the undone files, that's more efficient than save for web or what I'm doing?
Thank you!
