CS3 vs CS4

I know this forum's about photoshop, but it's the nearest to what I need & maybe what applies to p'shop will apply to CS in general.

I've got creative suite 3 on my PC & am thinking of upgrading to CS4 (been offered it @ very low cost)...... i've been learning CS3 partly from books (e.g. Deke McClelland's p'shop one-on-one).....would the books still be any use, or are the differences too big?

thanks,
jeff

My experience with CS4 is bad. Way too many bugs.

Thanks for your reply, I'd forgotten about this thread it was so long ago.

DO you have any experience with CS5 & if so what do you think of it?

I use CS5 daily and thinks it's worth the upgrade from CS3 if you'll use the new features.

The content-aware delete business is crap. It only works in very specific situations and not worth the time. Apart from that, I don't remember what other features are new to it.

Sorry for the lack of info. I usually upgrade with every other version since Adobe doesn't like to pack "must have" features in every version.

CS4 has so many problems in it. I prefer CS5 or stay with CS3. Do not use CS4 version.

Yeh, this seems to be general feeling about CS4. I'll definitely give it a miss.

Thanks all!

There is really nothing different from CS3 To CS4. If you already have CS3 I would stay with it.
If you don't have either then go to the shop see which one you can get the cheapest.

There is really nothing different from CS3 To CS4.New features in cs4 are great but they require 2 gig or ram
asking to much for us broke people.

Since, technology is really updated in all aspects just like in software. Adobe Photoshop is really perfect for the graphic artist, between CS3 and CS4, I'd rather choose CS3 because it is not complicated to use than CS4 but if you want to jump on more upgraded CS5 will do.

I think cs3 is much better than cs4.No doubt both have same features but cs4 is quiet complicated and have bugs in it.
