Cyrillic fonts problem in Photoshop 7 (Mac OS X)
Hi,
For some reason cyrillic fonts are not being displayed properly in Photoshop (OS X). Specifically I use Arial for some russian text. But instead I see just some weird symbols... However using the same Arial in Word for instance doesn't cause any problems. I can type and read russian. Do I have to install some special fonts or it's Photoshop setting? Thanks a lot! |

OK, let's start out obvious. Does the Arial you're using specifically contain the cyrillic charecters you're hoping to use? Open it in Adobe Type Manager and view all of the symbols in the font to ensure that it's there. |

Well, the Arial that goes with OS X doesn't have cyrillic chars included. So the answer is NO. However this Arial works fine with other applications when I'm typing in Russian. So, I thought it would work fine with Photoshop too.
I downloaded windows arial.ttf (cyrillic). It displays fine in my Font Book, but not in Photoshop. I assume I need to convert it somehow to Mac True Type? I just can't believe that the only way to type in cyrillic in Photoshop is to buy all cyrillic fonts. Is there any place I can download them for free? Does Apple have something like russian.collection or cyrillic.collection fonts? |
