Delete image white background

I have tried to get rid of the white background in the attached zip file around 15 time. I followed different tutorials and you tube but I must be missing something...

I used the magic wand tool, making a new layer and deleting the background and a few other suggestions but the resulting images

I have PS CS5

Please let me know if you can let me know what I am doing wrong, or if you need further info. I looked for a way of uploading these but see no option for attaching zip file..

Thanks
Paul

I think you need to save the file in png with transparent background option. Please let me know if this solve your issue, otherwise try to upload the image so that someone can help you with your problem.

When you open something to edit in PS, after editing that layer if you save that the default option is white background and jpg format. You need to work on that.

Also, Paul,

If you are working in the file and the base layer is "Background" then you have a problem. You'll need to double-click on the background layer to "Promote" it. Hit 'Ok' in the dialog that appears. Now you should be able to delete from it, and it will give you transparency. As mentioned by zabalex, make sure you save as a .png with alpha transparency enabled.

Good luck!

Another option than the png file is the gif but to do it you will have to use "save for web and devices" and select gif making sure that the "transparency" check box is selected
