Drop down boxes, search boxes

Hey All:

Got a quick question. I bought this photoshop template (do't flame me! it was really nice!) And on the tempalte the text boxes for searching were layered pics. I am wondering how I can add a drop down menu and a search box to this template. I have tried setting the slice to "no image" and dropping the HTML code in that section, however no dice, it sets the rest of the slices off so the whole thing looks screwed up! I am wondering if anyone could help me, tuts or links would be appreciated as well as I know this is pretty basic stuff! Thanks in advance!
