Everything in photoshop is gray??

Hi all,
I just started to use Photoshop and I enjoyed messing around with some images to get me started. I quit the program and then a while later I loaded it back up again.
Now, when I try to change the text color, paint brush color etc. It just is gray. I don't know what to do.
Can anyone help me?

Check that you just aren't in Greyscale mode.

When you create a new document, make sure you click on the dialogue box for colour mode, and select RGB colour. This could solve your problem.
