Unhappy File>Place doesn't work, and also paste from Illustrator to Photoshop
All of a sudden this bug occurs. Before, when pasting from Illustrator, I was normally optioned to paste as Pixels/Path/Shape Layer. Now it automatically pastes as Path, and the File>Place menu is disabled.

what image mode are you working in?

Usually CMYK or RGB. But this problem is not related with the color mode. I found out that it can be resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling all Adobe products: Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign...
