Futuristic Appearance Tips

I have been trying to make my site original, by adopting visual techniques which are rarely used, even to the point where it might not even work.

By doing this i've generally tried to create something futuristic, i feel i have succeed in creating an original look, however it is definitely missing something.

could i have some advise to give this website more of the 'wow' factor please?

ps, this is my first post and i feel it is more suited to the Website Critiques section, however im only looking at photoshop design at the moment and i dont have access to that section anyway.

I think it looks pretty mint mate. I know noises can be an unwelcome gues but maybe just a subtle futuristic beep on the main nav on roll over. Maybe increase the transparency on the graphic behind the text - it makes it slightly hard and unpleasant to read. There is a fair bit of white space - maybe that's what u7 were after with an almost lost in space feel. One other thing - its very cold at the moment. Again maybe you were going for that but consider introducing a yellow maybe? last little thing - thats a big block of text. might be off putting. break it up with some sub heads?

This is all flash but design wise you might get some inspiration:

good luck mate - i think you have made an original and futuristic design so far.

I suggest adding a background with a gradient or some color variation other than the solid one you have. Also instead of using normal rectangle frames, make the shape have different angles or cut out parts of it to make a new shape other than a boring rectangle.

Hey! I hope you're still taking advice?

The overall layout of the website is okay; however, one important thing I noticed is the color scheme, shapes and fonts you're working with, which in my opinion are outdated, not futuristic at all.

Take inspiration from the aesthetics of Apple, because THAT is the future. Plastic and glass instead of metallic surfaces, light instead of dark, space instead of clutter (which is something you obviously already know) soft curves instead of sharp angles.

The combination of fonts is not really working: choose two fonts from the ones you have and dispose of the third.

Colors: you don't necessarily have to go to the extreme of using a white or a yellow (!!!) background, but a gradient backdrop, as an above poster suggested, would be an excellent solution.

The text... twinkles? a little too much for my taste, it's distracting. The animated sphere thingy you have going on satisfies the /animation/ quota, believe me.

You also may want to consider leaving your sponsors'(?) banners/buttons at the bottom of the page or creating some kind of sidebar, because they're taking up too much space and the purpose of having them there is unclear to me (this is me speaking as a publicist).

I hope you found some of this useful
