How can I make a fade as this
Can someone advise me on how I can make an even fade that almost looks like this one (attached). I have seen very nicely faded graphics on the internet esp as backgrounds in logos. They sort of fade like a gradient. They are darker on one side and very light on the other end and it is done evenly.
Can some one tell me how I can design one of those please? The attached one is not a good example but it shows the idea. Thank fellas. |

Actually no, it must have been my mistake to put those wrong images out there. Unfortunately I cant see an example of what I exactly want but it is something fading from left to right (horizontally) rather than circular. The result will be the L-side being darker than the R-side. Thank you for your reply.
I am looking on the net to find an example |

I found perfect examples!!
The kind of thing I want to do is to have the one side of the picture fading into the background. Please notice how one side is darker as the pic fades evenly to the other side.
How can I make a design like that? Please advise! Attached down are the examples. |

you just put a gradient (from color or white to transparent) over the image.
I got the image from: www.sxc.hu ![]() |

The problem with that is that it messes up the colors. What you want to do is called "blending" two pictures together. You could create a layer mask then apply a black/white gradient like this link describes. Another way is to try something like this. If none of these help or you need any more tutorials, I recommend good-tutorials.com. Do a search for blending and you get quite a few good links (like the ones I provided ). |

Tool for which part? I believe they cover everything you need to do in the tutorials?

Tool for adding that white gradient, I tried gradient under "layer" menu but it did not cover the whole image like it is in that example. Thank you all

Im using an older version of photoshop.....5.5 but Im pretty sure its done the same way in newer versions
What you need to do is have 2 seperate layers (the 2 pics you are blending into each other) Then the layer that is on top, you need to apply a 'layer mask'. On your layers palette, its near the bottom and looks like a box with a circle in it. Then you need to select the horizontal gradient and make sure your set your foreground and background colours to default (black and white) by just pressing 'D' And then just drag your gradient from one point to another and then you will see where one pic starts to blend into the other. You might want to try a few different times changing how far you drag the gradient, and from left to right, or right to left and see which looks better for you I hope I explained this ok

Thanks this has brought the horizontal gradient I have been trying to reach. Although I am still trying to get the desired effect. How would you make the gradient to be as ggod as in the example ShaeNaeNae made. Mine is too light on one side and too dark on the other?
Thanks again |
