How do I reproduce this effect?
Hey, making a webpage. I d-loaded this template and now I am changing it. I put my own image in the header. And the problem is that the faded while bar is now to small because I doubled the heigth. I want to extend it so it hits the edge of screen. I dont want to increase the size of it, but add-on to it. Here is what I mean, i also included the PDF file.

I'd recommend using the polygon select tool (under the lasso tool sub-menu) or the paths tools to select the area you want shaded and fill it with white in the Shadeline layer.
A small word about layers: It is actually better for you to keep the layers, so if you ever want to change the shade bar's color, size, or shape, you have that flexibility. However, should you decide not to keep the layers, you can use flatten image in the layer menu to make one layer, or merge down/merge linked/merge visible as needed ( also in the layers menu). HTH
