How do you do this effect?
Alright, first post (been a lurker for a while).
I run a fantasy baseball league and one of our owners makes the logo for our league. Well he's too busy right now and I was just going to do it. I'm a novice Photoshop user though and I've got the player I want, but I can't find out how to use the effect he uses for the players.

He used Albert Pujols last year, but that's not just a black and white job. It's something else, and I can't figure out what kind of effect that is that he used on Pujols.

Is it the "juiced and jacked" text? If so, its just a gradient color overlay with a texture on top set to "screen" I believe.

Actually, it's the player I'm talking about. The player (Albert Pujols) is black and white. But it's not just black and white, there's some kind of other effect going on there. Not sure how it was achieved.

Its just the black and white, and bumping the contrast and brightness around to blow out the whites.

I suggest to turn to professionals. This is your baseball league, this is not your business card and envelope. it must be professionally and efficiently.
