You can't increase the size of an image without losing quality. Increasing the size of an image requires creating new pixels, and it is not possible to algorithmically calculate the color and location of those new pixels accurately enough to prevent loss of quality.

How to increase the size of an image in Photoshop without losing its quality!

Photoshop CS2 has a new feature called Smart Objects. Smart Objects allow you to alter, transform, and warp your photo, without ruining the original information.

Here, let me explain:

convert the image layer into a Smart Object
[Layer > Smart Objects > Group Into New Smart Object] or use the Layers palette menu.

Now scale the object down. Press Enter to set the transformation. Then, re-scale the object back to the original size.

NOTE: This is called non-destructive editing..

I agree with the view that it's impossible to increase size without losing quality. Main problem is pixelation but try using the Neat Image plugin (google it to find it), it helps flatten the pixelation and sharpen edges. Sometimes I resize too big, use Neat Image then reduce size to the enlargement I originally wanted.

I have a simple solution for you...just hold down Ctrl+T, this will activate free transformation...this way you can resize and still retain the quality

No, don't agree. Ctrl+T is skew / perspective mode.

Hello,
I know that Ctrl+T is used for skewing an image, but it also activates the free transformation. Just increase the size by dragging the sizing handles to the size you want and press enter. This is one good way to increase the size and yet retain the quality. Please try it yourself
There is no harm in trying

Resizing is not hard. The point of this thread is 'How to increase image size (and retain quality)?'

You show me your clever trick with this image

so it comes out better than this one.

(You can't, it won't, that's the flippin' point)
