How to make tail effect of an image that goes sideway??
Hi! I'm wondering how to make an tail effect of an image that looked like it had moved from point A to point B, leaving behind the tail line in a form of a ghost effect. I was wondering about making a curve line that start small at one end and become bigger at the other end...
For example, a fly that is buzzing around and we would see the line but instead of a line, it would be a shadow of a fly along the way. I hope I'm making it clear in explaining it. Thanks, FletchSOD Last edited by fletchsod : March 16th, 2005 at 08:39 AM. |

umm, i'm not 100% sure if this is what you mean, but if you were to use the pen tool to draw a curvey line behind the fly, then rasterize the line, and then apply a motion blur to it ('filter','blur','motion blur'), then just drop the opacity of the layer.
lemme know if that's not what you're talking about at all!! |

How about the image instead of the pen line tool, this is what I'm looking at...

okay,
how about this...duplicate the 'fly' image, then stretch the duplicate from point a, add the blur and drop the opacity? that sorta what you mean?? |

Yes, that is what I meant...
Can you show me to do it step-by-step? Is it possible to do the curvy motion and zooming?? Thanks, |

ok...
i'll do my best to give you a step-by-step... so, you've got the fly... 1. position the fly where you want it in 'point B'. 2. duplicate the fly layer. 3. stretch the duplicate layer to roughly where you want it to start ('point A'). 4. drop the opacity of the duplicate (use yer judgement on that one). 5. to add the motion blur; 'filter', 'blur', 'motion blur' (use yer judgement on that one too). 6. now, to do somethin curvey; one way of doing this is as follows (on the duplicate layer still); 'filters', 'liquify', mess about with the liquify tools until you get what you want, and as far as 'zooming' goes, just use the 'move' tool and hit 'ctrl-T' to adjust it's size, perspective etc... Hope that helps! |

I'm now on step 6 and I'm stuck there.... I don't seem to have the liquify filter. Is it an additional plug-in you use or what version of photoshop do you have?

just hit the 'V' key (for the 'Move' tool),
then hold 'Ctrl' and hit 'T'...shouldn't need a menu fer that... |
