How would I do this?

Hello,

I'm trying to make a trapezoidal shape in Photoshop, but am having no luck. I want to mimic the shape that you see here: www.webaccents.net ... the top orange portion.

Basically, I want to make 3 smaller boxes to put in the content area in the middle with that basic shape for the top and then a bordered box underneath it. The box part is easy ... just an HTML table, but the lil shape I can't understand.

I tried using the line tool, and then tried making a rectangle and then using an eraser on it to get the desired shape, but that is getting screwed up.

I appreciate any help ... thanks!

Make a rectangle with the marquee tool.
Then press CTRL + T (free tranform). Once you've done that then right click on the selection and select 'perspective' or 'skew'. then drag the corners as far as you want.

You could also do the same thing with the rectangular shape tool, which is my preffered method since you can do more with it. Like easily apply gradients or overlay images quickly.

You can also easily "duplicate" your current layer by pressing "CTRL + J"

kolatracks' post is helpful too.

Are there some good tutorial sites you guys can recommend to learn some tricks like this? To learn some of the effects?

Thanks!

Hey Sammy K,

Thanks for the link. I've been posting here for years (@Devshed), but I just didn't know how to describe exactly what I wanted in the title

I'm sure I could have ... just couldn't think of anything very definitive.

Thanks again, though.
