I have struggled with this photo, please help make it lighter.

I have smudged it, changed color saturation and a few other things to try and make it lighter but I am not successful. I am out of time for this project; please guys help me make it lighter and tell me how I can get good results

I appreciate much

Red face Light Adjustment In Photoshop

Hi, this maybe something you already tried....... I would lighten image in brightness then go into image adjustment- curves. This is a sensitive adjustment but then you can bring back your depth you lose in lightening entire photo. Goodluck, hope it helps!

Ctl + M --> Change the curves

Thanks u all for your responses. Itried all of the above and I was certainly able to get some brightness. However, I faild to get brightness in the facial areas alone where it really tends to look dark than the rest of the other places.

How can I achieve the brightness only in that area (or any specific area. I tird the smudge tool but doesnt seem to be for that job. please advise. THANKS

I went into Image - Adjustments - Variations and played with it for a minute or two and came up with this. If I had PS CS and not 7, I would have just used the Highlights and Shadows feature it has. So I just used Variations. Its the only way I personally know how to somewhat duplicate that feature.

I worked on it too... first I did just a little bit of brightness & contrast, then I duplicated the layer, and then I added a lot more brightness & contrast to the duplicate. Then I applied a layer mask, and did a circular gradient. That lit up her face more than the rest. It looks like there's a slight spotlight on her.

my version of the image

Hey Guys, First post here. Thought I'd help out...

I modified a few levels including Brightness and Hue Saturation.

Take a peak and let me know what you think.. I think lightening the background was the best bet.
