impossible?
I've always been annoyed when working on the edge of an image in photoshop when zoomed in. When the image is zoomed out you can get that nice grey area around the image so you can use a tool to just nick the edge. However, as far as I have seen when you are zoomed in there is no way to get that grey area so you can use a large tool size. Should I be annoyed forever or is there a way to do this???

hi there,
use the crop tool to make the image bigger...then you can zoom and work on the edge, when you are finished crop it back to the original size. |

Um Im not sure if you can use CROP to make it bigger, but you can increase the canvas size, which gives you blank space around your image. Then once your done use CROP to shrink it back down it its original size.

hi there,
you can use the crop tool to give you more canvas in ps7 and cs...you just drag the handles to the size you want then hit enter. |

Also, if your image is a lot smaller than your screen size, you can switch to one of the two windowless modes and zoom in, and you will have a nice gray or black area surrounding your whole image. (This won't work if your image is more than half, or a third, or a fourth, etc. of your screen resolution, depending on what zoom level you want to use.)
If this won't work for you, then increase the canvas size, edit your image, and decrease it back to what it was.
