need help with fading colors

Hey

I'm trying to edit this theme, but so far it has only given me pain in the head. I know how to edit the colors and everything from the css file and theme.php file, but what I'm very frustrated about at the moment is the fading colors. This is the theme I'm trying to edit:

URL

I want to make it basically all green. I have photoshop, Fireworks MX, and all other softwares but I have no clue how to do this right. Like the stylish gray texture that the theme has on the block titles, I want to make something like that in green. I tried making same size images in photoshop (ex: header_2.gif) in green using the Gradient Tool, but it looked really crappy. I am no expert at photoshop, or any graphics program, but I'm willing to go through the pain in order to setup my website. If anyone could help I will really appreciate. Thanks

are the related ORIGINAL graphics files available for download? if so, the easiest thing to do is adjust the hue and saturation with the colorize box checked until you reach the colors you want.

i'm not really sure about the exact areas you are trying to color though.

I also use the following technique:

1. Open the image
2. Desaturate the image (B&W)
3. Create a new layer on top of the older image
4. Fill the layer with the color I want
5. Set the layer's mode to Overlay
6. Play with the Opacity

And that's it.
Have fun.

absolutely right

The method above is the way to go. Make sure you have lots of RAM available.
