Neon Glow filter
Usually, if I apply the Neon Glow filter to a picture with a background, for example: red text on a black background, I get a really neat looking glowing effect around the edge of each letter. But when I try it on the same text on a transparent background, it doesn't work. Is there any way to get the letters to have a slight glow on transparent? My goal was to create glowing text labels to be transparent .gifs for the menu on my website. Any help would be much appreciated...

Are you going to apply this transparent text on a dark background too, coz if you do, you don't need to see them glow in transparent background. Else one thing you shouldn't really do is apply glowing things in light areas, it's like asking yourself this..."can I see sparkling stars during the day?".

If these are going to be transparent gifs then you're better off putting a stroke around it using layer styles, and maybe an inner glow as in the example I've attached. If there's a glow around the edge it's just going to end up getting cut off.
