new to photoshop/doing something wrong
After playing around creating a couple of layers when I select a tool it won't allow me to use it. For example if I select the text tool when I go to the image the cursor shows instead of the text symbol. And I can't create the text box. This happens with any tool I select. I know it has to be something I'm missing. If I restart photoshop it works fine.

that happens to me sometimes when I made something that needs to be rasterized, so rasterize the layer, or make a new layer & try to use the tool then.
see if that helps. (just a suggestion)best wishes, ~ Candy |

Actually it's the trial version from Adobe. It's done it twice. I haven't been able to make it to happen again to try and figure out what caused it. |

You know whenever you create some text, it creates a new layer, so you can't have the text on a layer with an image, unless you rasterise the text layer, then merge the layers together.
