pen tool

Hey, I was wondering why it won't let me draw on my grey thing (if you zoom out then you see gray around the outside of the image. I need to be able to draw on it. If you could help me that would be great. Thanks.

Umm, could you try to explain the problem a little more?

From what I gather, you're trying to use the pen tool on the gray space outside your canvas area. I have PS 6 and it works fine for me.

Okay, well that's hard to construe because it's working fine here.

Are you using the freeform pen tool? I've noticed when you first draw something with that, it won't let you go outside the boundaries of the canvas...

Are you making a path from scratch? What version of PS are you working with?

I'm using the freeform pen and the first line lets me go out but when i try and draw from that line it won't go on the grey. I'm using PS7

Yeah, the freeform pen tool works that way.

I would suggest that you first make your path within the canvas, and then resize it larger, so the sections you want outside the canvas area are then in the gray area.

Because it's a path you won't lost quality by resizing it larger.

Will that method work for you?
