Photoshop Effect Tutorial
Would someone be familiar with a tutorial that could assist me in creating the greyish region around Kobe Bryant in this image
http://members.shaw.ca/annaps/kobe.jpg Ideally, if the tutorial had a start image and had step by step instructions with a finished image, that would really help me in learning this technique. Thank you. Anna |

I have no answer for you, sorry.
But I have to say that that image looks like it is simply a duplicate layer, highly blurred. Maybe some white added to it? Kobe himself has an outer glow around him. Well, hope that helps, maybe someone knows exactly what was done and how to duplicate the effect.

Thanks for responding. I found a few tutorials and here is what I came up with http://members.shaw.ca/annaps/mykobe.gif
Perhaps a little to much white and I've oversaturated Kobe's face. I'm not sure why the text came out poorly once I saved for the web. I did use 256 colors. Wouldn't mind hearing what else I can do to improve it. Quote:

hi , annaps
By now u might have figured out it was a motion blur. Well few thing i noticed: 1)the face should face the text...(esthetic& to show focus) then the direction of the blur is not correct... should from left to right and a bit away from the face.coz its looks dirty otherwise. 2)what the white dot is an airbrush to show the source of light.u should not put it on hos face.see the photo where is light part then put the light source with an airbrush. hope this helps |

Photoshop Effect Tool
Thats easy..take a pic of yours with any back ground.
Using the Magnetic Lasso Tool [Shortcut: L ] (First tool in the second row of the tool box) make an outline selection around your pic. Now when you press [ctrl+shift+i] it will make an inverse selection. The inverse selection selects everything else but your picture. On this selection use the filters Go to Filters>Blur>Radial Blur or Motion Blur. It should give you a similar effect. Thats the closest i can get. |
