Picture Lettering?

I have been messing around with using pictures as the letter colour instead of a solid colour or a style. What i want is the words "Dumerils Boa" to be the colour of thier scales and on a picture background. What i have done so far is first set the picture as the background. Then i put the letters right above it (they are white...black wont show for whatever reason). Then i put the scale picture on top of the letter layer. I then press "Multiply". This sets the colour for the letters. This is where i run into trouble. It shows the whole scale picture, but more transparent, and has the letters lighter. How do i get it so it ONLY shows the words "Dumerils Boas" in the scale colour. I am using Photoshop 7.0. Image attached bellow

here's what you need to do put the text layer below the picture, click the thumbnail of the picture in the layers palette then press Ctrl + G, then viola!. You can also move the picture anywhere you want to find you desired texture
