Placing an edge around an image?
Hello All,
I am trying to figure out how to go about making a frame or edging around and image such as the photo example. This is what I was told to do, but cannot make head to tail from it: Magic wand outside the picture. Select>Inverse. Stroke - set to 1 pixel and desired colour. New Layer Move Marquee box to desired position Stroke again Move 2nd layer to back Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Darryl |

right..after you have selected the whole image with the wand
u go the menus at the top (file, edit etc); go to the select menu, then click on inverse now go the the menus again, leyer > stlye > blending options in there is a tick box saying stroke (im here set how many pixels u want etc) select ok or wateva create a new layer (on you layer panel, theres a little icon (look like a sheet of paper) click this) then get the pointer tool..drag the selected region to where u want the drop shadow repeat the stroke bit then just drag that layer uinder the first layer u may find that u cannot get to blending options if u are editting a background layer..to solve this just ctrl + a that layer and copy it to a new one, then selete the background one) ![]() |

If you just want a solid color or gradient, I find just expanding the canvas size to be the easiest way. Just make sure your image is a layer and not a background, and after you expand the canvas you can move the image around as well as create a layer under it and fill that layer with color.
The canvas size option is in Image>Canvas Size. |

for fancy schmancy borders, draw a rectangle (a vector) and then use any brush to stroke the path. Its like drawing with any brush with a VERY steady hand.
