Preview is not being created

I am running Photoshop 7 on a Mac, the problem is that when I save a group of Jpegs, for some a preview is created, and others there is no preview. I am also using iPhoto, so that could be part of the problem. To get a preview I am having to use SAVE AS and that is tedious.

I seem to only be able to view the images with a preview on my DVD player - so If I burn a disk, I have to create previews beforehand.

thank you, Amanda

If the images weren't saved with a preview the first time this may be why you need to "Save AS". If they weren't saved with a preview, then there is nothing for the system to use

For my TIF problem (on PC) I see a preview through file browser, but not in Windows Explorer, and not even when I click FILE > OPEN - I only see a generic TIF icon!

I never have this problem with JPG (knock on wood).

Even having File Browser open seems to slow PhotoShop dramatically. Anyone else experience that?

hi, I'm not even sure I fully understand your question but my experience may throw some light on your problem. I wondered why, for ages, some images would show thumbnails in Windows Explorer and others wouldn't then I realised. If you save your image with progressive encoding Windows apparently can't cope with it and won't produce a thumbnail. Maybe your issue is related?

John.

previewing

Yeah,

File Browser rules when it comes to thumbnail previews, but it does slow down everything it seems. Time to get a new iMac! save as... usually gets you a permanent preview. In Preferences>File handling make sure your preferred preview selections are checked also...

Cheers!
