Professional Web Design Help

I have been designing photoshop layout for 5 years but I have only been doing designs for sites like anime and musical bands... I want to get more into the professional design schemes. Can anybody give me hints, tips, tutorials, on making professional layouts? Thanks...

Just study the sites you like and consider professional. There is no one tutorial out there that will teach you how to make a good looking site. You really just have to study hundreds of professional looking sites and figure out what they are doing to make it look professional. Use these sites as a template or influence on your own sites. I'm not saying 'copy this site or that site', but just take clues from what the masters are doing. A good place to start would be templatemonster.com. They have a lot of really good looking site templates. Pay close attention to the detail that these people put into making the sites and let them influence you.

Like Monkey-boy says look at who you want to emulate. Save the page to disc and pick it apart. I know the purists say build from scratch but look at all the time you can save.

Pick out what you think you'll need and save em as templates. If you are going to use someones template in business than you should pay them.

A template that cost $20 or 5 hours to code is a bargain at $20.

i personally, just think of a theme, then draw it on paper, and make it come alive on the web, but theres no actual "proffesional" tempaltes on the web, just one that u like, and ones u dont like.
