rotate one layer?

I just got started using Photoshop and can't see to figure out a way to rotate just one layer, such as text, rather than the entire canvas. I would like to be able to place it on a diagonal. Thank you in advance for your help,
-Elizabeth

Send a message via Yahoo to SilverDB
First you must select the layer, then select the Rectangular Marquee Tool (press M) then CTRL+Click on the layer (in the layers window) to select everything inside the layer.
Then right click on the selection (you are still working with the Marquee Tool) and select Free Transform.

Good luck and happy editing,
Silver

Learning shortcuts will reduce your creation times by quite a considerable amount.

In this case, CTRL+A to select all of the current layer. Then, CTRL+T will initiate the transform sequence. Once finished, press enter to finalize changes.
