why doesn't photoshop let me save images as jpegs ?

i have several .gif files which I want to save as .jpgs but photoshop won't let me.

Again, not much info. What you've got, what you've tried, what version you have, etc. would make it easier to help you.

You might try switching them from Indexed Color to RGB.

try exporting, and then select the jpg format.

Don't bother with "Save As". Use the "Save for Web" option in the File menu (Control-Shift-Alt-S).
