Shortcut keys are not working (PS7&8)

Hey, can anyone tell me why my shortcut keys are not working in PS? In PS7, I find functions like Cntl+Shift+I will not select the inverse. A few other commands do not work. In PS8 almost NO short cuts work....not even Cntl Z! Can anyone help please?

According to Adobe, this is the result of a crack or keyboard driver update

It's the crack that you have installed. There's a bug in it.

this also happens in PS7, which is a legal copy.

Perhaps it's your keyboard driver then.

I have reinstalled both copies and have updated my keyboard drivers. So far everything except Cntl+Shift+I is working. -Everything that I use on a regular basis, that is. This really is puzzling.

Just to let you guys know (because a lot of ppl have been asking) I have not figured it out. Most keys are working now, but still some are not. It's not due to a crack and my drivers are updated.

I just have a standard keyboard - did not even realise it has drivers! well, obviously it does, but I did not know they could be downloaded. As my software is not cracked I shall be writing a rather blunt email to adobe - their explanation is not good enough for a package which I have forked out well over £1000 on including initial buy and upgrades over the last few years, especially seeing as the keyboard shortcuts are invaluable to me.

ralphuk - if you just have a standard keyboard then there is a good chance you will not need to download drivers for it, as windows will use a generic one for it, which in 99% of cases works fine.

As for the whole driver thing, because its the newest doesnt mean its the best. If u know the model nuber of your keyboard it might be worth asking in one of the hardware forums to find out where to get the best drivers for your board.

wow, and here I thought I might have been slipping into insanity. Ctrl-Shift-I ceased working in PS7 a long while ago. After much cursing the darkness I finally gave in and suffered with it not working.

I'm almost positive it's not a keyboard driver as I've had *this* keyboard since Win98. Now on this *fresh* install of XP, and even to fresh XP installs ago I had problems with the key combo. At some point on a fresh XP install PS7 that combo did work.

?? ??

oh well. I now have a spiffy Dell natural keyboard. I suppose I'll try and hunt up some drivers and hope for the best.

I'm hoping I won't have a problem once I buy PSCS

Hizaam,

That's exactly what I've been doing....dealing with it. I just can't figure out WHY it happens and why the inverse?

Are you running ICQ? I found that in PS6/7 if it was running it screwed up all my shortcuts. Try shutting down everything apart from PS and see if you get a problem, then gradually eliminate what is causing it if so by re-opening programs one by one and testing.

Ahhhhh Haaaaa!

For whatever reason the ICQ thing was it for me, I had that problem too, but with Trillian IM. Trillian works with AIM and ICQ, but doesn't have all the crap ads like AIM. I think the ICQ function of it was what caused the headache. I turned it off and sho'nuff, I could once again use my beloved shortcut!
