Smudge tool taking a long time to work.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew what is wrong with my smudge tool. When I go to use it and apply it to my image, it takes a while to show the affect. Everything else in my photoshop works fine. Oh yeah, I use PS CS if that makes any difference. Thanks.

I've encountered that problem too, when I was using PS7. When I'm smudging using a small brush it quickly shows the result and you don't have to wait for a while, but as you change the size, it takes time to display the result.

I think you should have a huge memory, especially when you are using PS CS

I had 256 DDR, and was having the same problem with PS CS. Then got another 512 and it went away so definately the program is just slowin ur computer down. You could try not running any other apps while your using PS. Might help a bit.

Alright, thanks guys. I have tried smaller brush sizes and that seems to help a little but then again it doesn't give me the same effect as bigger ones would. I have 512 ddr ram but my Ares folder is just too damn big, maybe for christmas Ill ask for some... My brother has 1024 ddr and has nothing on his computer.. What a joke and he won't give me some if I ask, says it doesn't make a difference.
