Question spacing and grey boxes...

How can I make the space between lines like the pic I attached, space them so its 5 or 6 pixels apart? It looks really bad doing it freehand,is there a way to just set the space so it looks even? And how can I add colours to the empty space? Must I use white background instead of transparent?

Final question, how can I do those grey boxes like those on URL banner. And those lines that fade out plus how can I sort of make the lines "pop-up" or have that 3d effect, sort of like emboss I guess.

Quite a lot of questions for a first post huh

hi there,
a simple way to do the staggered lines is to use the grid with the (snap to) checked, you can alter the grid squares to suit your spacing and angles. draw your first staggered line then then start your next line snapping to parallel grid points. you can use a transparent background.
connect the staggered lines at the beginning and the end. select the centre with the magic wand...then use the paint bucket to add colour. to get the grey boxes use the marquee tool to make a selection...then shift+ctrl+u..this will desaturate the colours. the faded areas are done using the gradient tool. to do the 3d lines, draw your line... go to filter..blur... gausian blur..mess with the dialog box to get the look. the mega man web page is all gradients and blurred lines. about 10 days ago a similar question was asked..have a look at the replies.

ctrl+' enables the grid. when the grid is visable..click view and make sure (snap) is checked. use the line tool to draw the lines make sure anti-aliased is checked on the toolbar. use preferences to change grid spacing.if you need more help email me. changboy77@hotmail.com
