Thumbnails of PSD files in Windows XP
I recently reloaded my Windows XP system software and all application software.
Same Windows XP but I upgraded from PhotoShop 9 to PhotoShop CS. Suddenly (in Windows Explorer) I don’t get thumbnails of Photoshop (.psd) files. JPGs and TIFs give me thumbnail views but not PSDs. Is there a configuration issue in Windows XP or is it related to Photoshop CS? |

I suggest you post one of your images here. We can save it to our own machines & see if we have the same limitation. I suspect it's a Microsoft issue (isn't it always?).

More than likely it's an issue with program association.
If you uninstalled PS then reinstalled it, that may work. |

The psd thumbnail view is not included by design in the lastest version of photoshop. To restore this feature follow these steps: 1. Download psicon.dll from DLL Dump 2. Place the DLL in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Shell\ 3. Thumbnail previews of PSD files are now back Here is the link to the dll: http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files.php/dllfiles/P/psicon.dll/download.html Adobe would rather you use the File Browser in Photoshop to view files. From the "File" menu select "browser". This is fine as long as you happen to have photoshop open but the fix above will restore the view in windows explorer so you will have the best of both! |
