Tools don't work in Photoshop

I am having a heck of a time. My healing, clone & paintbrushes aren't working on the photo. I have the correct layer selected. HELP! I have a gazillion photos to touch up.

Okay. I finally did get it to work without the Wacom tablet. But why can't I use that with Photoshop? That's what I bought it for and it has worked! Is this an on again/off again problem? I certainly don't need the WT for anything else.
Thanks!

Have you installed drivers for the tablet?
Have you read the manual for the tablet?
Comments on this post
Xenus agrees: Right - and if you have, reinstall those drivers - and then maybe google for the wacom >
photoshop relationship, perhaps specifically the version of PS you're using
