Which is better, Photoshop CS or Firework MX 2004???

Hi! What version is Photoshop in Photoshop CS?? (7.0???) What version is Firework MX 2004???

Which of these two software is better? I have been using Photoshop for over 5 years and the latest version I'm using is 5.5. It's just way too expensive and don't like the newer version to limit it to one computer only if I have 2 in my office to switch back and forth with.

1. It's only $169 to upgrade.

2. Using two copies at the same time is illegal. Quit being so cheap.

3. You're allowed to have a copy installed at work and at home.

4. Fireworks also has an activation scheme.

5. Fireworks sucks.

Upgrade suck!!! Full version is better... Um, on 2nd thought, maybe it's time for me to go GIMP!!!! It's so nice to have 2 seperate version on one machine anyway. If you have hte $$ like Donald Trump then good for you, otherwise it's never cheap for folks working in McDonald or being a janitor.

You idiot! The upgrade IS the full version. If you have a valid serial # from an exisiting PS, call Adobe and they can sell you the upgrade (aka the full version) for $169.

Why would you want 2 versions on 1 machine? PS if a MEMORY HOG and would cripple your system.

To answer your question, Photoshop CS is Photoshop 8.0. You can find that out in the Help/About menu. Fireworks MX 2004 is currently at version 7.0.

Neither of them is better than the other. If any of you have ever used either of the two you would know that they're great for different reasons. Firstly, Fireworks has one big advantage. It part of Macromedia Studio and integrates perfectly with Flash and Dreamweaver. However, Photoshop is awesome when it comes to designing graphics.

To put it straight, Fireworks doesn't suck. Its much easier to do advanced rollovers than in ImageReady and the slicing is better as well. Photoshop is the best graphics design and editing software on the market, but I seriously don't think Macromedia made fireworks to replace Photoshop. I have both CS and Fireworks and use them together to get things done, so stfu if you don't know jack about something.

This thread is really old, and this kind of discussion should take place in the Lounge since it isn't really about Photoshop Help.
