Transfer color from one file to another

I have a color photo that I would like to use to color a grayscale photo. Both photos are scans in different files. I can not set the foreground color to a color in the gray scale file. I am using PS 7 on a G4 Mac. Haven't used it in years and I'm struggling to remember. Looked at the book and tutorials no help.

you need to set the greyscale file to an RGB or CMYK status via the Image dropdown menu.

Thanks for the tip. Worked great. It has been a long time since I have used Photoshop and I just got lost in all the menus.

Wait, what? There's a version 7 of Photoshop. I thought it was only CS5. When did 7 come out?
