    How to access the 404 pages of website


    Hi,

    I want to access directly 404 pages from website url like:

    http://somesite.come

    I want to access all 404 pages within this site using php and check if it is a custom 404 page. Any one can help??

    we dont really know the URL of these. the file location can vary between each site.

    what you could do is go to the site: www.yoursite.com/randome.html so that you get the 404. in chrome/firefox open up the debug tool/firebug and go to network tab, now hit reload and see if that gives you any info. will likely not work.

    i didnt understand your point?? isnt there any way to access these pages in website??

    No. There is no list of pages that do not exist on a website. How do you think there would be? You think there's some "list_of_404_pages.html" you can download that has a big ol' list of every single page that the website doesn't have?

    Ok is there any way to detect whether the given url returns 404 and is custom 404 page??

    No. You can't reliably tell the difference between a 404 page provided by the web application hosted at that site and the 404 page provided directly by the web server software. You could look for specific indicators, like a fairly small response containing very minimal HTML, but you can't know exactly who is causing that output.
