    is there a simple way of adding bits to variables - say at the start and end.

    e.g $a = "foobar"

    but I need "$foobar$"

    so how do I add the $ at the start and end of the variable ??

    -cheers

    $a = "$foobar$";

    On special characters use the backslash, for example double quotes can be displayed using ".

    I hope this is what you were looking for.
