I'm new to PHP. My site is remotely hosted, and my hosting company seems to have configured PHP with the minimul functions, to the point where I can't even access the ODBC functions or the FTP Functions, and they missed many more. My question is, is there any way for me to add the functions I need access to without reinstalling PHP? I have root access, but I am not comfortable with installing PHP4.0 due to lack of experience. Any and all suggestions appreciated!

I recommend finding a hosting company that has the abilities you need. The standards today are for them to provide FTP access to YOUR site, PHP, MySQL, and CGI abilities. My company just got out of a hosting company called Branson Connection who did the things yours is doing. We went with Coloricity out of Springfield, MO - email firstname.lastname@example.org if you're interested. They provided all of my much-needed standards. Hope this helps...

unfortunatly switching hosting company's is not an opption at the moment. They do provide all of the access I need, I am just lacking in experience, and they unfortunatly are a very busy company. They have my request for PHP upgrade in the "queue" but it has not been completed yet, and I figured if I could at least get a little more funcionality out of it before they do the upgrade, it would help me a lot.
Thanks for the reply.
