    building a php forum, check list. advice.


    HI, Im new to this php ans stuff.

    Im starting a php forum om my own computer at home on windowz xp pro with the iis installed for the web hosting.

    Iv installed php4, so now the php works, but for my forum to work I need a data base,
    Im currently downloading mysql for that.

    Does this look like im doin things correct?

    Well, depends on what forum you are installing. I assume it can run on MySQL as that seems the popular choice, but you know what they say about assumptions....

    right i aska friend who as used the same firum prog as i am and he is usin the same database and said there is no problem.

    Do I install the data base prog to the dir where my website is or just on the computer its self?

    also the prog for the forum asks me for the database name user name and password, where can i find these out?

    does anyone know any help docs for this kinda stuff,

    In mySQL, I think the initial values for the user/pass are 'root' and the pass is blank.
